Carat size is the measure of a diamond's weight. Diamonds of equal carat weight may vary in price, depending upon the stone's cut, clarity and color.

How a diamond is cut determines a diamond's reflective qualities and brilliance, and influences its value. The better the cut, the brighter the diamond appears.

Most diamonds contain tiny natural imperfections called inclusions, typically seen only by the trained eye using magnification. The smaller and less frequent the inclusions, the more valuable the diamond.

In nature diamonds are found in a wide array of color - from colorless to rare pinks, yellows and blues, known as "fancies". Most diamonds have at least a trace of yellow, brown or grey. In general, the more colorless a diamond, the greater its value.
