Cubic zirconia's color range was part of its original commercial value proposition. Colorless production addressed the diamond simulation market; colored production, through metal oxide additives introduced during synthesis, gave designers a gemstone palette that was consistent, affordable, and not constrained by what happened to be available in a mine. Blue, pink, green, red, and yellow are all standard formats.
