Ruby production extends well beyond Myanmar. Thailand, Sri Lanka, Mozambique, Madagascar, and Tanzania all produce significant stones. Mozambican rubies are the most important recent addition, emerging in the early 21st century as a commercially significant source of fine-color material that has achieved recognition in international fine jewelry markets.
