The deeper story

A Storied Heritage

The earring post is a 20th-century development. Wire and hook findings dominated pierced earrings from antiquity onward, and the post-and-back system became standard as ear piercing went mainstream in Western culture. The format won because it suited the flush, stationary aesthetic that defined the century's earring preferences.

Made With Purpose

Lever backs were developed for drop and dangle formats where a straight post-and-clutch system isn't practical. The hinged wire threads through the piercing and closes on itself, providing secure suspension for earrings designed to move. Clutch backs are more appropriate for stud or on-the-ear styles.

Stone Story

Larimar's color is a direct record of its chemistry. Trace copper replaced calcium in the stone's structure during formation, and the concentration of that substitution determines whether a given stone reads as pale sky blue or deep Caribbean azure.
