Origin Story
The primary source of lapis lazuli is geographically specific and historically continuous. The Sar-e-Sang mines in Afghanistan's Badakhshan province have supplied fine material for over six thousand years. The same deposit provided lapis to ancient Egyptians, Mesopotamians, and the Renaissance painters who ground it into ultramarine, giving contemporary fine lapis a direct connection to antiquity.
