Visually Speaking

Edwardian jewelers looked to eighteenth-century French decorative arts and then rendered what they found there in platinum with a lightness the original sources never achieved. Garlands, bows, swags, foliate scrolls, open latticework were all from a borrowed vocabulary that became something new in the translation.
