The immediate recognizability of Art Deco jewelry comes largely from its geometry: circles, triangles, rectangles, stepped and chevron forms drawn from the machine age, Cubism, and Egyptian and Asian art, a deliberate departure from Art Nouveau's organic lines that gives the period's pieces their visual distinctiveness.
