Stone Story

Amethyst and citrine are the same mineral, quartz, and their different colors come entirely from geological formation. Iron impurities and natural irradiation in one set of conditions produce purple amethyst, while different conditions produce yellow citrine. This which is a reminder that identity in gemstones, as elsewhere, often comes down to circumstance.
