Origin Story
The Golconda diamonds that reached European courts through Indian and Persian trade networks were largely uncut or simply polished, the natural octahedral faces and surface luster of the material sufficient to distinguish them from any other stone available in Western markets, the optical character of the rough crystal doing the work that faceting would later formalize.
