STERLING SILVER: Also known as "Standard Silver," sterling silver is silver alloyed with other metals to increase the hardness and durability. Generally, sterling is 92.5% silver and 7.5% other metals. Some sterling silver jewelry is plated with 14kt-18kt gold and referred to as "vermeil," or "gold over sterling."
TEXTURED: A unique and varying finish with a tactile surface applied through various techniques, both by hand and with machinery.
POLISHED: A buffed-out finish used to produce a mirror-like shine.
OMEGA: A notably shiny chain formed by flat plates crimped together over a mesh interior. The semi-rigid structure gives it a unique look, perfect to wear as is or pair with a slide pendant.
LOBSTER CLASP: named after the pinching style of the hook, this clasp is often shaped like a lobster's claw. Use your finger to work the lever to open the clasp.
DOUBLE: A bale that has two loops to slide a chain through.
I was attracted to this because I have been seeing a lot of 'gators recently. I would not have guessed a silver alligator could look so nice, but this one does. It is not made to look scary or gruesome; it's just a 'gator. I appreciated very much that it came with its own necklace as it can be hard to match sizes.
