14KT: Karat (abbreviated kt or K) is a unit that indicates the purity of gold in the metal. 14kt is 58.33% gold. In the United States, 14K yellow gold is most favored and used in jewelry.
YELLOW GOLD: Gold is a precious metal with a natural yellow color. It is quite soft and often alloyed with other metals to increase its strength. The purity of the metal is indicated by a unit called a "karat," with 24kt having the highest percentage of natural gold.
POLISHED: A buffed-out finish used to produce a mirror-like shine.
ROPE: Chain links that are twisted or looped together in a pattern that creates a look similar to that of a rope.
SPRINGRING CLASP: Invented in the early 1900s this diminutive device is highly effective. It's a hollow circular metal fastener with a spring opening. This keeps the clasp closed.
OPAL: With an iridescent luster that can reveal a beautiful kaleidoscope of color, the opal has inspired many myths and legends. A white opal with swirls of soft pastel shades is popular for jewelry, but opals also come in black and blue. Opal is the gemstone for October birthdays.

Bought this with matching earrings for my October-birthday daughter. Â It is a lovely set, but the pendant arrived broken. Â Customer service provided a return of the broken one and sent a replacement. Â I was very pleased with the immediate resolution of my problem.

Beautifully Designed Necklace
I bought this necklace for a friend who lost one like it several years ago after receiving it as a gift in 1960 from her future husband. The opals are luminous and the cap is a beautiful design. After days of searching the internet, I saw this necklace at Ross-Simons, the only site I found which sells this vintage style floating opal necklace. My friend was brought to tears when she opened the box.
