Moissanite Jewelry

Moissanite: As beautiful as
it is rare!

The name moissanite was named after Henri Moissan, the French Nobel Prize winner responsible for first discovering this luxurious jewel. In 1893, Moissan accidentally made the discovery of the natural mineral silicon carbide (SiC) while examining rock samples from a meteor crater located in Arizona.

Natural moissanite is extremely rare. In order to have enough supply for crafting jewelry, there was a need to produce simulated moissanite. In 1998, Charles and Colvard answered the call and became the sole manufacturer of moissanite jewels.

Moissanite comes in a variety of colors including the most popular near-colorless and gorgeous hues of yellow and green.

MOISSANITE: Moissanite is harder than CZs, Rubies, Sapphires and Emeralds. It rates a 9.25 on Mohs Scale Hardness Scale (diamonds score slightly higher with a 10). It out performs diamonds on all other counts including brilliance, fire, luster and toughness.

Moissanite Jewelry Care & Handling

Like a diamond, the brilliance of moissanite can be dulled by small deposits of dirt or oil on the surface of the stone. To keep your moissanite jewelry beautiful, clean it regularly with a solution of mild soap and warm water. Store your moissanite jewelry safely in your Ross-Simons presentation box when not in use.
